Six Months With the Victoria Arduino Mythos MYG85 Grinder
If you’re in the market for a commercial espresso grinder that can keep up, stay consistent, and actually make your life easier, let me introduce you to our current favorite: the Victoria Arduino Mythos MYG85 Gravimetric.
We’ve been running this grinder hard for the past six months in our busy coffee shop. From open to close, it sees nonstop use—and honestly, it’s been a dream.
Consistency You Can Count On
What really stands out is the consistency. Once you get the MYG85 dialed in, it holds beautifully throughout the day. And when you do need to make small adjustments (because let’s be real, you always do), it’s a breeze. The user interface is clean and intuitive, and the micro-adjustment system is responsive without being finicky.
Gravimetric Precision
The built-in gravimetric dosing system is where this machine really shines. You get incredibly accurate shot weights every time, which takes a huge variable out of the equation during rushes. That kind of precision adds up fast in a high-volume setting.
One Small Quirk
If there’s a downside, it’s this: when you place your portafilter in the catch tray, the grinder takes a second or two to tare and register the correct weight before it starts grinding. Not a huge deal by any means, but it’s noticeable. Still, I’d take that minor pause over inconsistent dosing any day.
That said, you can make the pause shorter if you're willing to trade off a bit of accuracy. The machine gives you flexibility there. And if gravimetric isn't your thing, you also have the option to grind by time instead. It's nice to have that choice.
Pro Tip: Get the Big Hopper
We opted for the larger 5 lb hopper, and honestly, I’d call it essential. If you’re in a high-volume environment, you do not want to be refilling a small hopper all day. This one gives us the breathing room we need without slowing down service.
Bonus Tip: Choose the Right Clump Crusher
If you're given the option, go with the metal clump crusher instead of the Teflon one. The steel version holds up much longer and is absolutely worth it in a busy shop setting.
Final Thoughts
The MYG85 has been a solid addition to our bar. It’s fast, accurate, easy to work with, and looks sharp doing it. If you’re running a coffee shop and want a grinder that keeps up and keeps things consistent, this one delivers.
Highly recommended.
